Version 1.3.3 of AstroGrav has the following bug fix and improvements.

Collision Bug Fix

Version 1.3.3 of AstroGrav fixes a bug that could occasionally cause a simulation to become unusable after a collision had occurred. This was a rarely seen bug, which was unintentionally introduced in version 1.3.2.

Java Included With the Windows Version

Version 1.3.3 of AstroGrav now includes the Java Runtime Environment in the Windows download, and as a consequence the download size has increased from 1.4MB to 20.3MB. This has been done for the following reasons.

  • New users will be able to use the software straight away, regardless of whether or not they already have Java installed.
  • It ensures that you will be using the same version of Java that has been used for most of the testing, reducing the chance that you will encounter faults.

The version of the Java Runtime Environment that is included is 1.5.0_06.

It is not necessary to include Java with the Mac OS X version, because Java is included in Mac OS X itself.

Other Improvements

Version 1.3.3 of AstroGrav also has several other minor improvements and bug fixes, including the following.

  • Simulation evolution has been speeded up.
  • The opening of model windows has been speeded up, most noticeably with simulations containing large numbers of objects.
  • The creation of new families has been speeded up, most noticeably with simulations containing large numbers of objects.
